Zendaya appears to have debunked the pregnancy rumors that went viral on social media.
The “Spider-Man: No Way Home” actor posted an Instagram story on June 15 that read, “Look, this is why I stay off Twitter… I just make stuff up for no reason… every week.”

This followed rumors that Zendaya was pregnant that spread on Twitter, where a TikTok falsely claiming she had announced a pregnancy began circulating. Users seemed to believe the hoax, despite it originally being posted as part of a viral TikTok prank called the “Krissed” trend, where people make false claims about celebrities to entice viewers to watch a clip of Kris Jenner dancing to “Lady Marmalade.”
On June 13, a user named Ryan Roberts posted a TikTok showing an image of an ultrasound that looked like an Instagram screenshot, with Zendaya’s Instagram handle over it.
Zendaya’s Instagram profile doesn’t have an image matching the TikTok screenshot.
The 12-second video then shows a 2011 clip of Kris Jenner dancing and lip-syncing to the song “Moulin Rouge,” with an on-screen caption reading, “You just got Krissed.”
The word “krissed” was used synonymously with “pranked” in the video’s title, which continued, “Send this to your friends so they can #kris.”
Similar videos have gone viral over the past week, with 11,000 TikToks posted on the platform with the hashtag “#krissed” as part of the prank.
Commenters on the original TikTok largely acknowledged that the pregnancy claims were untrue, with the top comments reading, “I didn’t fall for this trap” and “No, I was actually prepared this time.”
The TikTok user who posted the video did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment.
On Twitter, users seemed to believe the pregnancy was real.
Shortly after the TikTok was posted, a rumor that Zendaya was pregnant began spreading on Twitter.
The topic “Zendaya pregnant” trended on the platform on June 15, with some people suggesting they were surprised or saddened to hear the news. The most-liked tweets under the hashtag “#ZendayaPregnant” each received hundreds of thousands of likes on the platform.
Some users acknowledged that the rumors originated from the “Krissed” trend and were part of a joke, urging users not to believe the claims.
Zendaya’s personal life has frequently been the subject of speculation on social media.
Zendaya and her boyfriend Tom Holland have tried to keep their relationship as out of the public eye as possible. However, last year, Holland told People that he wanted to “take a break and focus on starting a family.”
He added, “I love kids. I can’t wait to be a dad. I can wait and I will, but I can’t wait!”
In February, Holland also denied reports that he had bought a home in London, England, with Zendaya.
The two Marvel stars were first linked after starring together in the Marvel Cinematic Universe trilogy, “Spider-Man.” Last year, dating rumors surfaced after they were photographed kissing in a car.
Holland later told GQ that he and Zendaya felt “robbed” of their privacy by the photo.
“One of the downsides of our fame is that privacy is no longer under our control, and a moment that you think is between two people who love each other very much is now a moment shared with the whole world,” Holland said.
Zendaya’s representatives did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment.
